The Masthead
About AI Romance Report
A comparison publication covering the AI companion market, written in plain broadsheet style, and owned by a company that competes in the market it covers. This page explains how that works and why we think it can.
AI Romance Report compares AI girlfriend and AI companion platforms for adult readers. We rank eleven platforms, review our own in full, tabulate the field head to head, and publish explainers on the industry and its privacy questions. Every ranking on this site is an editorial comparison: criteria stated up front, scores labeled as our opinion, and rival strengths conceded in plain sentences rather than fine print.
How we work
Our method is published in full on our methodology page. The short version: every platform is weighed against the same criteria (feature breadth, content policy, access model, free entry, pricing structure, and character variety), with weightings disclosed. We re-check platform features, content policies, and pricing models on a quarterly cadence, and sooner after major announcements; the dateline on each page reflects the last full pass.
- Criteria first. The same questions are asked of every platform, including ours, and the answers are printed even when they favor a rival.
- No fabricated data. No invented user counts, no fake testing-hours figures, no third-party review aggregates we did not verify, no invented testimonials. Editorial scores are labeled editorial scores.
- Hands-on, criteria-based review. Our assessments rest on each platform's publicly stated features and policies and our own use of the category, characterized honestly.
- Corrections, promptly. Spot an error? Email [email protected]. We review every note, fix what is wrong, and revise the update date on the page.
Our reviewer
The scoring and writing in AI Romance Report come from a single editorial desk, led by one accountable reviewer rather than a rotating cast of anonymous freelancers. Every review and comparison carries one consistent byline, so you know who ran the testing.
Julian Reyes
Lead Reviewer, AI Romance Report
Julian runs the hands-on testing pass behind every score in the report: signing up, holding real conversations, pushing voice, image, video, calls and live mode, and checking each platform's content policy and pricing before a number goes to print. The byline is honest about who we are, the team behind Swipey AI, and it is not a claim to be an independent third party or to hold outside credentials. The portrait above is a drawn illustration, not a photograph. It simply means one accountable desk stands behind the scores.

Open DiscordWho we are
This publication is written and edited by The AI Romance Report Editorial Team, operated by the team behind Swipey AI. We do not publish invented staff names or stock-photo bios, so you will not find a wall of smiling headshots here. You will find a desk that signs its work collectively and answers its mail.
Why trust a site owned by a vendor?
A fair question, and the honest answer is: verify rather than trust. We show our criteria before our conclusions. We name the places where rivals beat us: Character.AI's free tier and character library, Candy AI's image quality, Replika's companionship focus, Nomi's long-term memory. Every factual claim on this site is checkable against the platforms' own published features and policies, and when a claim is our opinion, it is labeled as our opinion. A comparison that concedes nothing convinces no one; we would rather be checkable than believed on faith.
